Shri Durga Dhyanam is a sacred Sanskrit meditation hymn describing the divine form of Mahishasuramardini Durga, the Mother who destroys ignorance, ego, fear, and inner demons. This dhyana invokes Her ten-armed form, Her weapons, Her lion vehicle, and Her victory over Mahishasura. Listening or chanting Durga Dhyanam is believed to bring courage, clarity, victory, success, protection, and spiritual awakening. Below is the complete English translation for devotees. 🔱 FULL ENGLISH TRANSLATION — SHRI DURGA DHYANAM (NEWLY REWRITTEN) 1. I meditate upon the Goddess whose matted locks are beautifully arranged, who wears the rising crescent moon on Her head, whose three eyes shine with divine radiance, and whose face glows like the full moon. 2. Her complexion resembles the delicate Atasi blossom, She stands firm, with large, enchanting eyes, brimming with youthful beauty, and adorned with shining ornaments. 3. Her smile reveals beautiful teeth, Her bosom is full and majestic, Her posture is gracefully curved in the tribhanga, and She is the mighty slayer of the buffalo demon. 4. Her ten arms are soft like lotus stalks. In Her right hands She holds the trident, sword, and discus. 5. She carries sharp arrows and the powerful spear in Her right hands, while a shield, bow, noose, and goad grace Her left. 6. She also bears a bell or an axe in Her left hand. Below Her, the buffalo demon lies defeated, his severed head displayed in divine triumph. 7. From the severed body arises a fierce warrior-demon, brandishing a sword, pierced through the heart by Her trident, his entrails pouring out. 8. His limbs soaked in blood, his eyes blazing with fury, bound tightly by the serpent-noose, and his face contorted in wrath. 9. In Her left hand Devi grasps his hair; blood flows from his mouth as Her lion roars beside Her. 10. Her right foot rests steady upon the lion, and Her left toe presses upon the demon’s form. 11. One should always meditate on the Goddess— destroyer of enemies, crusher of demonic pride, with a serene, compassionate face, granting all desires, and praised by gods. 12. She is Ugra, Chanda, Prachanda, Chandogra, Chandanayika, Chanda, Chandavati, and Chandarupa Atichandika. 13. Surrounded by Her eight divine powers, one should eternally contemplate Durga— the giver of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. #DurgaDhyanamMantra #MahishasuramardiniStotram #MaaDurgaBlessings #PowerfulSanskritChants #DivineMotherDurga
