Welcome to Day 4 of your 30 Days of Qigong to Better Health. Chris begins by explaining the concept of Yin and Yang. In contrast to Western philosophy, which seeks absolutes, Chinese philosophy is interested in relative relationships, described as Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang are at the same time opposites and complements. Further, Yin contains the roots of Yang, and Yang contains the roots of Yin. Yin at its extreme becomes Yang. Similarly, Yang at its extreme becomes Yin. Chris takes you through the importance of Mind, Breath, and Wu Ji posture as a means to increase energy throughout the body. The next step is awakening the body with the following exercises: Tossing the Stone, the Heel Drop, and Shaking the Tree. Today's focus exercise massages all the Yang organs, essentially the entire digestive system. Thus it is great for a variety of digestive discomforts, such as nausea, constipation, bloating, and acid reflux. While Massaging the Yang organs, breathing and arm swinging should be natural, easily rhythmic. For acute problems, do this exercise as needed.
