Priyanka Gandhi's palatial house, a two-storeyed building on a nine-acre plot overlooking a picture valley in Shimla can be anyone's dream to spent couple of days here. this bungalow has always been a centre of attraction and controversy because all rules were ignored by both BJP and Congress to facilitate Gandhi.Priyanka gandhi, daughter of Sonia Gandhi and sister of Rahul gandhi bought the plot of private land in three instalments first in 2007, second in 2011 and final in 2013. The Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act 1972 debars non-agriculturists from buying land in the state without government’s permission. Both BJP and congress governments granted permission under Section 118 of the act, Senior congress leader Rita Strokes managed both the governments and sought permission for Priyanka.Firstly in 2007 Congress Chief minister Virbhadra Singh granted permission to purchase a part of the land for residential purpose for Rs 47 lakhs from US-based Satish and Satinder Sood. At that time, Gandhi was also facilitated by the state government to obtain a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Rashtrapati Secretariat as the land fell in the high-security zone, which included the President’s retreat and a VVIP helipad in the vicinity. State BJP leader Rashim Dhar Sood threatened in the past to bulldoze Priyanka’s house because it was built illegally but it was seen as a retaliatory attack against the demolition of parts of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s office in Mumbai during Shiv sena rule. Ranaut had a face-off with the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, largely over the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Delhi based architect started construction of her bunglow in 2010 but when she visited there she was not happy with the quality of construction. mainly she was not satisfied with ventilation, open area within the house and absence of hill architecture. she ordered the demolition of the bungalow in 2011 and it was demolished in no time. In 2011 she asked Shimla based architect Tenzin to redesign the house, Tenzin very nicely worked on hill architecture and made open terrace, smooth driveway, open area, slanted roof etc.
