Climbed August 21-22, 2025 The LeConte Route is the original route up North Palisade, fourth tallest mountain in California and unquestionably the most extreme of the state’s twelve 14ers. The terrain is a minimum of Class 4 and roped travel is often recommended due to the high consequences of mistakes. The key is finding the ledges that connect the initial chute to the chute that continues to the summit (there are two options for this).
