Walden MSW graduates Amy Still, Kayla North, and Winter Watson as well as BS in Human Services student Octavia Ledlow are using their Walden degrees to lead the Oxford Home for Children family-living model, providing individuals with the essential stability, education, social skills, healthcare, and sense of community. A state licensed and nationally accredited home, Oxford Home for Children is the first child services home in North Carolina that offers residential care services to children and families as well as independent living programs to young adults. Walden has donated $25,000 to reclaim their recreation center with new furniture, paint, food equipment, and decorations as well as a Walden Community Library full of free books. This will be a safe space where kids can be kids and escape the traumas they have experienced as they work to improve their lives to becoming young productive individuals.
