Loral had a contract with the U.S. Navy and needed parts to meet strict deadlines. Loral hired Austin Instrument to supply those parts. When Loral later won a second Navy contract, Austin agreed to supply the new parts only if Loral accepted higher prices, not just for the new contract, but also for the original one. Austin made it clear that if Loral didn't agree, it would stop shipments. With no practical alternative and under pressure to meet Navy deadlines, Loral agreed.
