The CAU expansion has raised the maximum car level from 1299 to 1497 due to the introduction of level 60 performance parts and many people are wondering how much of a difference the higher level will make, so I tested 6 of the top cars in the game at level 1299 and 1497. With each car I did several runs at each level and here I am showing the best runs next to each other for a direct comparison. Of course not all of the runs are completely flawless but this was already a lot of work and it should be more than enough to get a good idea of the difference between the two levels. Timeline: 0:00 Street spec Nissan Skyline at Sebring 2:09 Dirt spec RUF RT 35 at Windmill Racetrack 3:46 Dirt spec BMW X6 at Windmill Racetrack 5:27 Perf spec Pagani Huayra at Golden Hills 7:22 Raid spec Ford Mustang at Navajo Trail 9:00 Circuit spec Ferrari 458 Speciale at Golden Hills With the Skyline, RT, Huayra, Mustang and Ferrari the difference between the two levels was 0.3 seconds or less, which should lead smart viewers to the conclusion that the higher level makes basically no difference here. I also didn't feel any real difference when driving. Only with the X6 there was a clear difference. And this car was actually changed with the CAU update in general. My record with it before the update was a 1:08:4 and now I was a full second slower at level 1299. This is because the car now gets stuck in first gear at the start. And at level 1497 this problem gets even worse, so with this car level 1299 is actually better than 1497, at least when you are playing with automatic transmission like me. Once you got going there appears to be no real difference between the levels with this car either but at the start it is very significant. Here you can see how the X6 was able to start before the update:    • The Crew Wild Run - Dirt spec track with b...   Now it always gets stuck in first gear at the start (also on the track from that old video), which makes the dreadful RT even more OP in Dirt spec. The second best car here is now the recently added Lotus Exige, which can still do a 1:08. Hopefully the start of the X6 will be fixed again in the future. In general it is underwhelming how the higher car level makes pretty much no difference (except when something is broken like with the X6), which makes you wonder why it was even introduced. There are also a ton of bugs in the game since the update and several of them are related to the new performance parts, so it would have probably been better if they just left the max levels at 50 and 1299. Anyway, in the next few weeks I will try to test every single car in the 5 main specs, to then finally make complete rankings for all of them. After Wild Run came out this was unfortunately not really possible because the devs took months to update the handling of all the cars but thankfully we don't have that issue this time, so I can now already test all the cars in the first month after the release of the new expansion. I will probably test them only at level 1497 though, unless I find more cars with a broken start like the one of the X6. By the way, my original plan was to show a Drag Trial as well but those are still pretty broken with the shifting not always working properly and the tires always getting too cold. Especially on the current tracks I often can't even keep the car straight until the finish. Maybe I will show it when there is a short, straight and dry track again in the future.
