The Ragpickers Nose was composed by Robin Frost in 1979. A roll of it was made by Robbie Rhodes in 1987. Converted to a production master by Richard and Janet Tonnessen and cut for Mike Schwimmer who issued it as Hot Piano Classics 76 in Jan 1988. While the vast majority of the HPC output was by John Farrell, a number of the rolls were by Robbie. In his words "HPC-76 "The Ragpickers Nose" by Robin Frost is entirely my work, created for the Robin Frost portion of the Hot Piano Classics catalog. It's a drafting board transcription, a hand-cut paper roll. I added the snakebites to soften the accompaniment (a typical problem with stride pieces)." Robbie's rolls for HPC were as follows - some with 'played by' other names, a longstanding piano-roll convention which reflects that a roll is a product of the roll-editor (in many cases anonymously) who may draw on the ideas from an original performance.
