This video presents the bells g0 -h0 -d1 -e1 [sol2 -si2 -re3 -mi3] of St George city church in Noerdlingen, southern Gemany. ➥ The oldest bell [4] dates back to 1496 and was cast in a very heavy rib by the Augsburg bell founder Peter Gereis. It is the only historic bell to have survived the two world wars. After the Second World War, the large bell [1] came to Nördlingen. Originally cast for St Mary's Church in Stargard (Pomerania), it was unable to return there after the Second World War. So it came to Nördlingen in 1952 as a "loan bell". The very light shaped instrument was cast by Friedrich Gruhl from Kleinwelka. It is the big sister of the large bell of St Luke's Church in Munich: • München (D) Die Glocken der evang. -l... After the Second World War, two more #bells were cast. The Rincker bell foundry in Sinn cast the bells [2+3] in 1960 in order to close the large tonal gap between the historical instruments. Taking into account the respective historical bells, bell [2] was made with a medium shape and bell [3] with a heavy shape. The full peal is clearly characterised by the distinctly different sound of the large bell. Due to the lower minor shape, which is also very light, it is not the foundation that one would normally expect at this depth of tone. The overall impression is unmistakable and nonetheless very impressive!
