He challenged us to release our need for control—to stop treating God like a vending machine where prayers go in and blessings pop out on demand—and instead trust that even when the heavens seem silent, God is working from a perspective larger than we can fathom. Drawing parallels between faith and obedience, Pastor Rick compared our trust in God to a Samoan grandmother encountering an escalator for the first time—fearful to step forward until others gently lifted her onto the moving steps. “That’s so Jesus,” he said. “He cares about our obedience, even when it’s imperfect.
