But the headlines often miss that even in this darkness, extraordinary acts of solidarity are happening every day: parents in Washington, D.C. escorting their neighbors' children to school, British citizens welcoming Ukrainian refugees into their homes, and veterans defending the Afghan interpreters who once fought alongside them.
