(7 Oct 2025) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: ASSOCIATED PRESS Washington - 7 October 2025 1. Various of freed Israeli hostages and family members of hostages in Gaza swaying to music during a vigil on the second anniversary of the October 7th terror attacks 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Iair Horn, freed hostage, older brother of hostage Eitan Horn: "The fight to survive and the mental torture were present every single second. I was treated like an animal. Strip off my dignity and robbed of every basic human right. One day, the terrorists told me I was being released. I had to leave my little brother behind in hell. Eitan (starts crying) Eitan is sick with a very severe skin disease that brings him pain and fever. A disease that puts his life at risk every single minute. A few days after my release, Hamas published a video of our final embrace. Eitan begged 'Please do not separate families. Do not destroy our lives.' His words are carved into my soul. I walked away while he stayed behind, and I have not known peace for a single moment since." 3. Various of Arbel Yehud walking on stage to deliver her speech 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Arbel Yehud, freed hostage, girlfriend of hostage Ariel Cunio: "Ariel held my hands so tightly. Then suddenly they opened the door and boldly told him away for me. We didn't even get to say goodbye. That was the last time I saw him in captivity. I was abused on a daily basis. They try to erase who I am, body and soul. Captivity is not just a suffering, it is slow destruction of time itself. Every day feels like a lifetime. Every hour drips with the fear, with silence, with not knowing if you will live to see another dawn. Try to imagine one day like that. Two full years of darkness, of hunger, of not hearing your name spoken with love. It is not humanly possible to survive that. And yet, Ariel and the others are still surviving, still waiting, still hoping. And that hope is the only light they have left." 5. Close of screen displaying photos of the remaining hostages in Hamas captivity 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Keith Siegel, freed hostage, the oldest Israeli-American hostage: "On October the 7th, 251 innocent people were kidnapped to Gaza. 42 were killed in captivity, killed and murdered. In the past two years, through diplomacy and negotiations, 140 hostages have been brought back. I am here, standing in front of you today as the result of a life-saving agreement. That agreement was secured through leaders who made it a priority. President Trump and the U.S. administration." 7. Jewish audience members record photos and video on their cell phones during the vigil 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Yotam Cohen, older brother of hostage Nimrod Cohen: "Israelis want this war to end. You can see on polls for the past few weeks, few months, more than a year, more than 80% of Israelis want this bloodshed to end. For the hostages, for the Israeli soldiers, for for the people of Israel, and also people who are thinking on the other side on peace in the Middle East and on the Palestinians who are suffering. And and we've come here not as politicians, not to promote some grand idea, but to fight for for lives, to save lives and to fight for humanity. Our loved ones suffered that day and are victims of the 7th of October. And we came here, to stop this cycle of violence." 9. Various of freed hostage Edan Alexander at the vigil STORYLINE: After 498 days in captivity, Iair Horn was released. Hamas later released a video of his final embrace of his brother Eitan Horn, who is still being held hostage. =========================================================== Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
