Video shows 'anxious' passenger open emergency exit, climb onto wing of plane in Seattle

New surveillance video from the Port of Seattle shows an "anxious" Alaska Airlines passenger opening an emergency exit and walking onto the wing of the plane after landing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday. After Alaska Airlines flight 323 from Milwaukee to Seattle landed at SEA on Sunday, the Boeing 737-900 jet docked at gate N9. As passengers exited the plane, a woman who was still on board became anxious and opened the emergency exit and climbed onto the wing, according to SEA Media Relations Manager Perry Cooper. Cooper said the Port of Seattle Fire responded just after 5 p.m. and helped the woman off the wing and on a ramp to the ground. Flight data shows the plane arrived at 4:48 p.m. In the video, the woman is seen opening the emergency exit on the side of the plane before walking onto the wing. It appears the woman attempts to drop to the ground, but instead sits on the wing of the plane and begins to wave at workers outside. A 737-900 wingtip is about 12 feet off the ground, although the distance from the wing to the ground is closer to eight feet nearer to the fuselage. The passenger was eventually sent to the hospital for evaluation under the direction of the Port of Seattle crisis team.
