Amtrak, CSX & NS Action In Selma NC Featuring A Phase VI Charger, & Amtrak 301 9/17/2025

On an off day from work I met up with my friends Cole & David to do some train watching at the Selma Diamond. Traffic would be on the slower side this day but there would be some variety. Amtrak would have a Phase VI painted charger on the point of the Southbound Palmetto that afternoon. The lead engine 303 is one of eight Siemens Chargers that are painted in Amtrak’s Phase VI livery. Painted mostly blue the livery features an homage to the red chevron from the Pointless Arrow in the Phase I livery. Later that evening on the southbound Floridian, another specially painted Charger #301 would be trailing. Called the “Day 1” 301 is painted in a scheme that was applied to E8A #4316 and coach #1589 when Amtrak started operations on May 1st 1971. We’d also catch the usual midday to early afternoon freight from CSX and NS; NS E50, and CSX’s Wilmington locals L225 and L607.
