7029 ‘Clun Castle’ blasts up Old Hill Bank with the Shakespeare Express- 6/4/25

Vintagetrains’ ‘Shakespeare Express’ featuring BR(w) 7029 ‘Clun Castle’ It’s been nearly 6 years since a GWR Castle Class stormed up Old Hill bank. The last time being in 2019. With vintagetrains announcing they they’re running extended Shakespeare Expresses from Worcester Shrub Hill it came as a surprise that it would be routed via Old Hill. I did believe that we had seen the last of Castles up Old Hill a few years ago. Anyway, the first shot was obviously going to be my childhood local, Old Hill Station. A welcome sight seeing a GWR loco stomping up the bank again. The next shot was at a foot crossing north of Wootton wawen on the. North Warwick’s line. The final shot was at a foot crossing near Blakedown. I had planned to do the cutting at Hagley but the bridge was closed.
