We are now at the part of Dan Raymer's book "Simplified Aircraft Design for Home Builders" where we determine the size and shape of the tail of our Ultralight Airplane. Like many of my videos this one got long so it has been divided into two parts. In this part (Part 6a) cover the purpose of the tail and the equations we can use to determine the distance behind the wing for the tail and the surface area for the tail using the Tail Volume Method. In part 6b we will do the actual calculations and add the tail to the wing in the OpenVSP application.
