Supplies used for today's tutorial: How to knit a beanie for beginners 1 skein of sock weight yarn 100g/ 400 meters Scissors Size 5 – 16 inch circular knitting needles (for the ribbing) Size 6 – 16 inch circular knitting needles (for the body of the hat) Size 6 DPN’s if you have them for the decreases at the top (not necessary) Stitch Marker Tape Measure Darning needle for weaving in ends I used a pom pom for the top. Beanie Instructions Holding 2 strands together Cast on 108 Make ribbing 2 inches for standard beanie or as long as you like. I made my ribbing 4 inches to fold it up. Switch to size 6 needles and knit the remainder of the hat. See the video for specific instructions, step by step. I knit the body of the hat for 6 inches for a small beanie type hat or you can knit longer for a more slouchy look.
