Ellicottville NY | U. S. A. | Sixty and Travelling Ellicottville in New York State, USA is a popular skiing resort. It was on our way while travelling to Toronto in Canada from Washington DC in USA. On the highway, Ellicottville comes as soon as you exit Pennsylvania State and enter New York State. The Canadian border is just an hour and a half drive from Ellicottville. We reached Ellicottville in NY after driving for more than 5 hours from Washington DC. As soon as we got down from the highway, the sheer beauty of the place started unfolding itself. The lush greenery, high majestic skiing slopes with traces of snow in the higher reaches (since full summer was a little way in end April), skiing lifts and ropeways, golf course, and above all, a series of cute, well designed and maintained cottages for skiing enthusiasts and other visitors. As mentioned above, it was April and an off season for skiing. But it was difficult to miss the huge expanse of Ellicottville with all its landscape, skiing slopes, and cool breeze which turned to cold breeze soon after sunset. In particular, the view from the strategically placed balcony of our cottage left us awestruck. This combined with fresh cool breeze, well we could have spent several hours just rooted to our balcony chairs. But we were equally keen to survey the fascinating surroundings. So we went out to be in the middle of Mother Nature with all its grandeur and majesty. We kept loitering around almost aimlessly just absorbing the atmospherics, till it was dinner time. As you know, dinner time in North America can start as early as 5 PM. So we drove down to the downtown area, about 5 km away. Like the town itself, the downtown too was a cute little one. We went around the downtown appreciating products displayed in shops, and at time entering some shops for souvenirs. Finally, we selected a very good restaurant for dinner. Surprisingly, despite the off season, most of the restaurants were packed to full capacity or near capacity. This was a good testimony to our impression that tourists come to Ellicottville even in off season for the sheer beauty of the place. After a sumptuous Italian dinner, it was time to retire for the day in our well appointed cottage. Next morning, a spectacular sunrise amidst melodious chirping of birds, heralded a new dawn and a new adventure for us. Watch out for our next video for the next adventure!
