A lecture from CVEN 5393, Water Resources Systems and Management, at CU Boulder. For class on January 19, 2023, this lecture follows the introductory lecture that defines water resources planning and management and what reservoir analysis seeks to do. The lecture provides a brief introduction to Python, calculating mass balance of a reservoir and its critical period. This initial example uses the historical record and has a very basic decision rule, but subsequent examples in class will add levels of detail to this. The example was adapted from code from the ECSTATIC repository, originally authored by Prof. Stefano Galelli. Coming soon: download links for the data and examples for the public.
