Preparing for the next pandemic: the EU’s expanding role in the fight against global health threats

EUqualis Guest Lecture In the aftermath of Covid-19, the EU legislator has taken major reforms to remedy some of the weaknesses revealed by the pandemic. Key areas of reform include ensuring equitable access to vaccines and medical countermeasures, as well as promoting a One Health approach to tackle animal and environmental root causes of pandemics. The session will explore how these ambitious developments aim to prevent the next pandemic, drive equitable access, and position the EU as a key player not only in European but also in global health security.
