👕 Dressing Improvement Program Goal: Improve independence with upper- and lower-body dressing Frequency: Daily or as tolerated Position: Seated preferred for safety ⸻ 1️⃣ Active Shoulder Flexion Repetitions Category: Range of Motion (ROM) Dressing Carryover: Pulling shirts, jackets, bras overhead How to Perform: • Sit upright • Raise one or both arms forward and overhead • Lower slowly to starting position • Perform within pain-free range Upgrade Options: • ➕ Add a 5–10 second hold at end range • ➕ Perform alternating arms with controlled tempo ⸻ 2️⃣ Active Shoulder External Rotation Category: Range of Motion (ROM) Dressing Carryover: Threading arms into sleeves, reaching behind How to Perform: • Elbows bent at sides • Rotate forearms outward away from body • Return slowly to start Upgrade Options: • ➕ Perform with arms abducted to 90° • ➕ Increase repetitions with slow controlled motion ⸻ 3️⃣ Seated Trunk Flexion Reach to Feet Category: Range of Motion (ROM) Dressing Carryover: Pants, socks, shoes How to Perform: • Sit upright • Bend forward reaching toward one foot • Return to upright posture Upgrade Options: • ➕ Hold end range for 5 seconds • ➕ Reach across midline toward opposite foot ⸻ 4️⃣ Seated Marches Category: Strength Dressing Carryover: Threading legs into pants or underwear How to Perform: • Sit upright • Lift one knee at a time • Keep trunk stable Upgrade Options: • ➕ Add ankle weights or resistance band • ➕ Hold knee lift for 3–5 seconds ⸻ 5️⃣ Grip and Pinch Strengthening Category: Strength Dressing Carryover: Buttons, zippers, snaps, fasteners How to Perform: • Squeeze therapy putty or ball • Perform tip pinch, key pinch, and tripod pinch Upgrade Options: • ➕ Increase resistance level • ➕ Combine with real clothing fasteners ⸻ ⚠️ Disclaimer ➡️ This is not a fully comprehensive program.
