Ryan: Hey everybody, my name's Ryan, and here at etrailer, we install, test fit, and review a lot of different parts. That way we can try to answer any questions those of you might have. That's exactly what we're doing here today, on our 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt vehicle wiring harness with a four way flat connector. With these Pathfinders being very capable SUV's, a lot of people use them to do a little bit of everything, which does include towing some trailers. Whether you're towing a small utility trailer to get maybe some materials for a home improvement, or maybe hitting a Lake with your boat for the weekend, you're going to need a way to illuminate those trailer lights. That's exactly what this wiring is going to do. It's going to provide you with those necessary lighting functions, not only to remain safe, but legal as well. One thing a lot of people don't think about is some of today's hitch-mounted accessories, particularly cargo carriers actually have lights on them and they use the same type of connector. If you end up getting that type of accessory in the future or already have one even, this will also power those lights as well.I will say that the wiring kit is really well-made. Curt has actually came a long way as far as that quality of construction goes. I want to mention there's a couple of different ways you can actually secure your wiring connector here. You can do it like this. Like we have it on our Pathfinder. You just use the dust cap to wrap it around your safety chain opening. And what I did was just use some wire loom to help kind of clean up our install. Look, this isn't included, but if you want to do it like this, you can always pick up some of this here at etrailer. Or another way you could do it is simply by getting a bracket and you can mount it to your hitch and kind of have it more permanently secured if that's what you're looking for, but either way works fine. What I do like is that nice thick dust cap. Since this wiring does live outside, it's going to help protect those terminals. I do suggest going a step further and from time to time applying some dielectric grease to the terminals. That'll really make sure that it stays in good shape. One thing I do like, is the connector itself has a nice spot for you to grab on to there, and it's really solid. Some of these connectors feel like they're flimsy and you can almost kind of crush them. That's just not the case with this one.At the end of the day, a wiring kit, you really can't go wrong with. It's going to be a great way to light up any of the lights on your trailer or your accessories, and even better, it's super easy to install, more or less. You'll have to kind of take apart a few panels in the back, but the wiring plugs in and then you'll just have to go under the hood, plug in a relay, and that's really all there is to it. Really shouldn't give you any issues or take you a whole lot of time. Speaking of which let's go ahead and do that together now.To begin our installation, we're going to be here at the back of our Nissan. You want to open up our hatch. We need to locate our factory connector plugs, so first thing we're going to do is lift this up. You are going to have to remove a few things, because that plug will be kind of back here in this area. First thing we're going to remove is our threshold here, which is this piece. Come here to the center, just pop out that little cap. Then what we can do is kind of grab up on the threshold, starting at one corner, and kind of just work it from one end to the other. That's going to release the clips, so if you flip it over, you can see these clips that are holding the threshold in place. Now we can remove some of the fasteners holding down this cargo container. We're going to have three, 10 millimeters just like this one here, so we'll grab our socket and pull those out.At this point, if you look, we're going to have a total of four plastic fasteners helping to keep this cargo container down. What you can do is get a flat head screwdriver and kind of get underneath it and pry all those up.Once these are released, you can kind of start to maneuver your cargo container out, and if it doesn't want to come out super easy, you may have to close the lid and separate it from our seat
