One of Raleigh PD's finest officers, and head of its officer driver training program, gives Street Survival crew and volunteers a quick demo of some of the things they teach the officers. First he runs our "graduation course" set up by the planning crew, and then he demonstrates a J-turn U-turn taken at speed. Fast forward to 1:14 to view the J-turn and to 1:19 to view the U-turn. When this video was shot, Raleigh PD was issued Chevy Caprice V8 police cars with the police package which has, among other things, a better brake and suspension package than your typical showroom-stock Caprice. Keep in mind that while the officers make this look easy, doing these maneuvers in a 2 ton relatively poor-handling car is tricky at best and requires expert precision. Years of training and practice are required and these are the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep residents safe.
