*Forgot to mention. You should check your local area for sewage/agricultural/industrial run off before foraging mussels. And also for algae blooms. Mussels are filter feeds and can be full of all sorts of stuff you dont wanna be consuming. Always cross reference multiple foraging resources and never trust just one dude on the internet for all of your info. Its the middle of winter, the plants, fruit and mushrooms have largely been and gone, and theres not loads to forage. But mussels are at peak season. Foraging: You'll need a bag/bucket and something to wear that you can get splashed in. Preparation: You'll need an old knife or scraping tool and maybe pliers. Two bowls of fresh water. Cooking: You'll need an onion, a few cloves of garlic, butter/olive oil and maybe a splash of white wine. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until most of the mussels have opened.
