Jacob Fork Rim and High Shoals Falls - South Mountains State Park, NC

A big day hiking loop in South Mountains State Park on National Trails Day. Since so many trails are included in this hike, it is hard to give a short title for what I did. My general idea was to hike the southern boundary of the park to Benn Knob, and return via a mixture of trails eventually passing by High Shoals Falls. The hike I ended up doing basically follows the ridgelines that encompass the Jacob Fork River headwaters, so I think Jacob Fork Rim is an appropriate title for this trip. Notable highlights include the views from Raven Rock Trail, raptors above Benn Knob, awesome view of the Jacob Fork watershed from the Upper Falls Trail, High Shoals Falls, and many incredible sights along the Jacob Fork River. There are many trails on this hike. Here are the trails I did in order. River Trail, Raven Rock Trail, Benn Knob Trail, Lower CCC Trail, Fox Trail, Jacob Branch Trail, Upper Falls Trail, High Shoals Falls Loop, Hemlock Nature Trail.
