The one but last stage from day 1 from the 59th Ardeca Ypres Rally, a 2nd run of SS Mesen. For a change, we went to the show part from SS Mesen, right after the start. A 'fixed value' for years in this rally, although we didn't visit it before but with this year's schedule it seemed a nice opportunity! While we went home after the stage was finished, we by coincidence came by the location where Lefebvre crashed. He lost the rear in a fast corner and started rolling at high speed and only came to a standstill in the middle of the hairpin following the corner where he made the mistake (there are other videos on YouTube showing the crash). Some say he rolled 13 times, I counted 10 rolls... Before this stage, Lefebvre had a 4.2 seconds lead on Fourmaux. After this crash Fourmaux is now in the lead, 13.3 seconds before Ingram and 23.7 seconds before Loix. Freddy Loix by the way won this stage, 0.9 seconds before Fourmaux and 1.4 before Ingram. 10 more stages to go, what would happen next? Can Fourmaux bring home the win in his familiar Fiesta, or will Chris Ingram take away the lead in this one-shot in the Wevers Sport VW Polo?
