This video wraps up my Wenatchee Clovis series by exploring the real function of bifacial cores—often mislabeled as projectile points. The finished piece in this video is a core used as a flake reservoir, not a weapon. Unlike what many expect, it doesn’t feature exaggerated overshot flakes or a "gallery-perfect" shape. Instead, you’ll see authentic production scars, including a prominent end-to-end flake scar that got blended in during final shaping. This approach more closely matches actual Wenatchee Clovis finds and challenges modern misconceptions about ancient toolmaking. Key Talking Points: -The core was never intended as a projectile point, despite common labels in modern lithic discussions -Large bifacial cores like this served as reservoirs for tool flakes, supporting real-life tool production needs—not just display. -The final product retains evidence of an earlier tool flake removal (end-to-end scar), mirroring true Wenatchee Clovis artifacts. Differences from modern expectations: No dramatic, giant overshot flake scars or flawless symmetry—instead, functionality and real use are emphasized. This project highlights why we should look beyond modern biases when interpreting Clovis technology and artifact function. #WenatcheeClovis #Clovis #AboFlintknapping
