We are always left with lots of leftover Thanksgiving Ham and sides and what better way to use it all up than a Hearty Chowder?! These cold days call for all the warm and cozy chowders, soups and stews, and in my opinion, you can't have those without bread! In this video I will take you step by step through two recipes, A Ham/Corn/Potato/Bacon Chowder and a Maple Oat Bread. Check out the Recipes below and let me know how you like them! Thanks for watching! Kelsey Bread: INGREDIENTS 1 cup rolled oats ½ cup maple syrup ¼ cup ½ stick butter 1 tablespoon honey 2½ teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 cups boiling water 1 tablespoon active dry yeast 5½ cups all-purpose flour INSTRUCTIONS In a large bowl, combine the oats, maple syrup, butter, honey, salt, and cinnamon. Add the boiling water and let sit for 15 minutes. Stir in the yeast and flour to form a soft dough. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and satiny. Cover and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place. Divide the dough in half, shape it into two loaves, and place each loaf into a greased 9 x 5–inch loaf pan. Let the loaves rise until they poke up about an inch above the rims of the pans, 1 to 1½ hours. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the loaves for 35 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Ham Chowder: INGREDIENTS 6 Strips of Bacon 1/2 Cup chopped onion 5 medium potatoes 1 can of corn 2 cups of shredded ham 4 Tbsp of flour 4 Cups of Chicken Broth 3/4 Heavy Cream 1/4 Tsp Black Pepper 1 Tbsp Parsley Fry chopped Bacon in pan. Once finished remove to plate and leave bacon drippings in pan. Add to pan of drippings chopped potatoes and chopped onions, saute for 3-4 minutes. Stir in Flour and cook for one minute. Gradually add 4 cups of chicken broth until thick and creamy broth forms. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer until potatoes are fork tender. Add in Corn, Ham, Heavy Cream and seasonings, combine and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve with shredded cheese, crackers and bacon. Enjoy!
