As part of my Mother's Day feast with family I made pork & beans for Diabetics with no sugar spikes. This fantastic side dish is great to serve with any meal, including BBQs and gatherings for a large crowd. Made for the diabetic in mind, I've substituted some of the more sugary ingredients with more diabetic friendly ingredients. Struggling with the sugar spikes, I've searched for a recipe that will prevent the sudden sugar highs you can sometimes get when consuming regular canned or homemade baked bean recipes. These pork & beans recipe is delicious and filling and you'll want to share it with the whole family. Recipe: 2 c. dried Great North/Pinto or Navy beans - soak overnight in cold water 1/2 lb bacon, sliced 2 cloves garlic 1 onion 1/4 c. maple syrup or diabetic syrup substitue 1 8 oz can diced tomatoes 3 Tbsp Molasses 1/4 tsp Mustard powder 1 Tbsp Worchestershire sauce 1/4 c unsweetened orange juice 2 Tbsp Stevia or Coconut sugar My channel is dedicated to everything hand and homemade for a healthier lifestyle including cold and hot processed soaps, bath and body products, household cleaners, gardening, home cooking, repurposing and reusing, tips, trick and tutorials.
