A smooth snowboarding day in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. After a fresh snowfall of around 15–20 cm, the mountains delivered soft powder and clear blue skies. It was a true bluebird day with light snow covering both open and tight forest lines. On my riding I was focusing on steady flow through fresh snow and forest. Keeping my upper body as stable as possible. --- Niigata Prefecture is one of Japan’s most respected snow regions. Located on the west coast of Honshu, it receives steady winter storms from the Sea of Japan. These weather systems bring consistent snowfall and dry powder conditions throughout the season. The area is home to well-known ski resorts such as Myoko Kogen, Naeba Ski Resort, and Kagura Ski Resort. These mountains offer a mix of open runs, tree zones, and backcountry terrain. Snowfall often builds a deep base, creating good conditions for powder riding. Niigata is easy to reach from Tokyo by train, which makes it popular for both local and international riders. The region is known for its reliable snow, forest terrain, and long winter season.
