The Nelson Mandela Bay Half Marathon is the only World Athletics Elite Label Road Race in Africa.Thabang Mosiako made history on Saturday, 3 June, when he ran the fastest 21km by a South African on home soil on his way to winning the Nelson Mandela Bay Half Marathon in a scintillating time of 01:00:29. The race which also incorporated the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Half Marathon Championship took place in Gqeberha where Lesotho's Tebello Ramakongoana took second place in a new national record for the Mountain Kingdom (1:00:34), and SA 10km record holder of Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) Precious Mashele sealed third place in 1:00:42. Multiple national champion Stephen Mokoka secured fourth place overall and third for Athletics Gauteng North (AGN) in 01:00:54 where the top ten men dipped under 62 minutes.
