Inside Amtrak's New Airo Train | A First Look at the Future of Passenger Rail

Go behind the scenes with Amtrak at the Airo Fleet First Look, where transportation leaders, media, and industry stakeholders previewed the next generation of passenger rail. At this special event, Amtrak President Roger Harris joined USDOT Deputy Secretary Steve Bradbury, FRA Administrator David Fink, and Siemens Mobility President Tobias Bauer to introduce the new Airo train, a modern fleet designed to improve comfort, accessibility, reliability, and connectivity for customers across the national network. Designed with customers at the center, Airo trains feature spacious interiors, accessible design, modern amenities, and expanded capacity to support growing demand for rail travel. The new fleet represents one of the most comprehensive fleet modernization efforts in Amtrak’s history. The first Airo trainsets will enter service on Amtrak Cascades in the Pacific Northwest. Production for the Northeast Regional fleet will follow, with testing ahead of service. Together with NextGen Acela, the Airo fleet marks a major milestone in Amtrak’s transformation and signals a new era of rail in America.
