Kastania is built on the slopes of Mount Ziria (Kyllini) at an altitude of 1,100 meters with a southeast orientation. The community of Kastania also includes the settlements of Karteri and Mikros Mahalas with headquarters in Kastania. Like the rest of Stymfalia, Kastania belonged to the municipality of the same name from 1997 until 2010, while before that it was a community. According to the 2021 census it has 61 permanent residents. Kastania got its name from a large forest of chestnuts that existed in the area. The village was included in the 19th century among the Arvanite villages of Corinth.
