What if one of the biggest lies our culture has normalized is that you should handle life by yourself? In Week 3 of our Better Together series, Pastor Ben Miller tackles a cultural challenge so many people are carrying right now: loneliness. We live in a world that is more connected than ever, yet many people feel more alone than ever. This message exposes why isolation is not freedom, why the “lone wolf” mindset is a myth, and why spiritual growth, health, and maturity are formed in community. From the very beginning, God said something was “not good” before sin ever entered the world: It is not good for man to be alone. God designed us as dependent beings, which means we do not have all the strength we need in ourselves. We need what others supply, and others need what we supply. This is why the Church is not just a place to attend, it is a family to belong to. Pastor Ben also points out the “miracle after Pentecost” - thousands of people with very little in common becoming unified because of the Spirit of God. That is what the Church is meant to look like: Different people, one common cause, together in Jesus. You’ll also hear Jesus’ powerful picture in Luke 15: The shepherd who searches for the one lost sheep and joyfully carries it home. This is not just a story about being found, it’s about being brought back into wholeness through the flock, the family, and the Father’s house. If you’ve been feeling alone, this message is for you. God may allow temporary seasons of aloneness to teach and refine us, but isolation is not your portion, and it is not the end of your story. You were made for more, You were created for family. You were built for community. And we are all better together. 📖 Scriptures Shared: Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Luke 15:3-5 Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.” Luke 15:32 “We have to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!” Helper means strength supplied from outside oneself or in one’s lack. Just right/suitable means counterpart. The context rejects inferiority, and the same word later describes the Lord Himself. 💡 Key Takeaway: You were not designed to do life alone. Isolation is not freedom. God forms us, strengthens us, and restores us through community, spiritual family, and being rooted with His people. 🎯 Call to Action: Ask the Holy Spirit, “Where have I been trying to carry life alone?” Then take one real step toward connection this week: join a Life Group, serve on a team, ask for prayer, reach out to a leader, or invite someone into your world.
