A mint condition Nakamichi DR-1 cassette deck with a puzzling fault. Although the deck appeared almost unused, it would not operate normally. Only fast forward and rewind functions were working, while all other transport functions remained inactive. This video documents the systematic investigation and diagnosis of the fault, followed by a complete mechanical service including cleaning, lubrication and precision adjustments. The transport was carefully restored and calibrated using genuine Nakamichi and laboratory master tapes, including mirror cassette alignment and reference calibration procedures.
