Continue from where the first half video left off... Action remained fairly busy up until a quarter till 2 PM. Starting the video off at just after 1 PM was CSX River Sub (another line close to home) daytime regular intermodal Q008 making its way past the diamonds. Autorack Q296 would follow thereafter. On NS side, a coal drag passed by led by a D9W equipped with a horn similar to that on the ACe. Shortly intemodals NS 234 and NS 218 would make its way past. Again, while trains going across the diamonds it creates quite a bit of vibration, I can feel it even on the stairs leading up to the tower. So please pardon some shakiness. I used a brief lull from just before 2 PM for a light lunch, and came back just in time for CSX K518 on the Mt. Victory Sub, which would be the last mainline train on that line for a while (work train with FURX SD40-2 leading a CSX GP15T would pass later, then a local would work, and it had a Conrail painted caboose and a slug set for power). Around 3:30 PM NS action gradually picked up after nearly two hours of inactivity, and there were some really nice stuff in the mix. Mixed freight NS 178 came through with UP second, autorack NS 29K had SD70ACU (rebuilt from SD90MAC) solo, mixed freight NS 142 had a flat car with a locomotive underframe (let me know what locomotive does it belong to, LOL), local L38 with SD40-2 would follow. But the highlight of the day for me was mixed freight NS 17M with a total of ten engines, three UP's up front and one at the rear of the power (not the train), along with the Jersey Central heritage unit (NS #1071) at sixth. I thought it was pretty awesome and it definitely made my day. I ended the day with mixed freights NS 143 and NS 175. There were three other trains I do not have video of: NS mixed freight in between NS 178 and NS 29K (I had to retreat inside of the car due to some brief heavy downpours. Thinking back, I could've used the covered area below the tower. Oh well, it only had a pair of Dash 9's). On CSX side, a baretable train on the Columbus Sub caught me off guard as I wasn't sure where the horn came from (two GEVO's by the way). Another CSX train took the transfer between the Columbus & Mt. Victory Subs west of Marion, which was only partially visible. Anyway, it was a great day here at Marion and I hope to return again in the future, depending on my routing. *Note: I'm really really NOT GOOD w/ train symbols. I try to get as many as I can through my scanner or asking other railfans around me (if any). Marion was a bit difficult to all the scanner frequencies, since each line had their own road & dispatcher channels.*
