On October 11th, 1995, Oasis would play at the Roseland Ballroom for the first time. That gig has not surfaced, so Nirvana will take it from here. This is the last major date of the Northeast Tour before the big performance everyone knows and loves, Unplugged, which was performed on November 18th, 1993. Previously when Nirvana stepped foot into the Roseland, hours before, Kurt Cobain overdosed and had to be revived. Tonight, no overdoses, and the band are playing great. The setlist is great. I would've love to see Frances Farmer inserted but outside of that it's one of the bands best setlists. To top it off, it's a brilliant recording by from the sounds of it, two people. You'll hear two tapers sign off after Blew, which I absolutely love. It's definitely a friend group. The band aren't incredibly chatty, but the banter is still great. During Dumb, Kurt yells at the crowd to shut up. Possibly to the crowd clapping or singing along, making him lose concentration. It's happened before during this tour. Of course, the crowd sing and clap louder for a moment. Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam is dedicated to River Phoenix, who only overdosed a couple weeks prior on Halloween. As the taper leaves after Blew, nearly the entire band of Half-Japanese, one of the openers for Nirvana, came on stage along with music journalist Everett True to play a noise jam that is loosely sounding like I Wanna Be Your Dog by the Stooges. Thank you to Live Nirvana for providing which band member plays what instrument. It's a complete clusterfuck but it's a wonderful clusterfuck. The tape fades out so we unfortunately miss a moment where Pat Smear hands Jaid Fair's stepson a guitar to smash after the jam. The audio used here is AUD1A, which has some digital glitches during a few songs. AUD1B has the same, but there aren't as prevalent compared to 1A. I used 1A because it's an overall better sounding source. This show is up there with some of the best of the tour. It's one of my favorites.
