Speedrun of the map Broken Alliance from Heroes of Might and Magic 2 run on easy difficulty. This is an iteration from my last attempt on this category where I copied the currently established strategy by the previous runner to use a secondary hero in order to scoop up enough resources to quickly acquire black dragons. In my previous run I realised it would be faster and more consistent to stop at red dragons as they could easily provide enough power to roll over the enemies castles. After reviewing that run I counted that I lost roughly 54 seconds just to controlling and battling with the secondary hero to acquire those extra resources. As such I tried a run where I just grabbed the resources near me, using green's starting trading post to acquire enough sulphur to barely build a green tower by end of week 2. With 4 green dragons I could still take the fights the reds could, but it was less consistent. When I remembered to on attempts, I would take centaurs with me to eat the turret shots from purples castle to lower my chances of losing dragons. However with the greens bad luck with purple being barbarians or knights could potentially kill from 2, to all 4 of the dragons, killing the run. Once I roll up to red I stop to protect those castles and send out a secondary hero, I try to acquire as much sulphur as I can by this point to max out the dragons I can take, as I found rolling out with only 4 black dragons on the second hero lost too much time to combat and could even lose to a well built yellow. Send through the portal to yellow and loop smoothly back to base wiping on everyone else on the way. turn cycle to roughly 25 black dragons, sail to purple, docking low on the island, trade for gems and buy out their titans so they don't attack me, then turn cycle for the win. This saved me a cool 51 seconds over my previous attempt and it only took...... 84 tries..... I guess this method really was less consistent...
