KNF E-1 - 2025.12.19 - Anna II flying at night during a new moon and crashes a few times

Kisatchie National Forest E-1: Anna II left Louis II incubating the eggs and went to the canopy camera tree (250 feet away) at 17:41:28. She decided to go back to the nest at 20:54:27 Tonight is a new moon which means there is NO moonlight for her to see to fly. Eagles have about the same vision as humans at night, so she cannot see very well in the pitch blackness by the nest. She crashed a few times. She did a lot of wing flapping to stay on a limb that she crashed to. Then she tried to fly again and ended up even farther below the nest but near the trunk of the tree. She seems to be staying put now and I hope she stays there until first light when she can see better and can get to the nest without crashing. I am really hoping that she did not get injured during any of those crashes. Louis II is doing an awesome job of incubating the eggs and even gave some wing slaps to Azalea (the flying squirrels) when s/he got too close.
