6 Year old treks to Everest Base Camp | Part 3/7 - Benkar to Namche Bazaar Welcome to our journey to base of the top of the world (Everest Base Camp 5364m) where we both along with our son Om (6 years old) embarked on the most adventurous trip of our life. Om was going to become the youngest Singaporean to do so if he gets successful in this endeavour. This 3rd part video is about how we spent our 5th day trekking 7 hours from Benkar to the sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. Emotions --------------- Sleep last night was a little iffy. Cold then hot then barking dog. My throat feels a little funny. I'm thinking it's the water. I'm not used to the way it tastes. Having said that I do feel rested and ready for today. We are off the Namche Bazar today. Its about 8 Km from Benker. Its beautiful here. Big boulder like mountains nestled in a Valley of green. The air is crisp. There is no WiFi. It's a funny disconnect I feel from the world. But at peace ✌️. So far Om is doing well. He is simply amazing. We love our little bean so much. We just need to keep him moving, drinking water and eating good foods to keep his body strong. Went for a little solo stroll this morning. It's so quiet outside with the steady sound of the water running through the town. A slight drizzle as you see the clouds setting and drifting into the valley. This stretch is one of the toughest treks, it takes us from the village of Benker to Namche Bazaar, the main hub of Sagarmatha National Park. Namche Bazaar sits at an elevation of 3440m. Its a 7 hour trek that awaits us today! We stopped at Jorsale for lunch. We still have 3 hours of uphill trekking to do. So this is a good spot to rest and recharge. There are multiple bridges that we cross in this trek. The most famous crossing is the Hillary Bridge which is the final suspension bridge to cross before entering Namche Bazaar. This bridge is named after Sir Edmund Hillary. It is just above the merging of Dudh Koshi River and Imza River. The bridge is well decorated with colourful prayer flags. Its a great place to stop for a bit to rest and take some nice photos. After walking an hour uphill there is a small rest stop. It has proper toilets and a small shop to buy some drinks. It's a good mid point stop to take a good break as there is another hour of uphill climb into Namche. Its a great place to meet and great fellow trekkers. Do remember to keep drinking lots of water to stay hydrated as its a steep uphill climb and the altitude changes drastically. Reaching Namche is the most exciting part of the day. As you approach the town you are greeted by a colourful array of lodges and stupas. This town has a number of lodgings and stores catering to the needs of the trekkers. It also has a fishbowl terraced appearance very unique from all the villages we have crossed thus far. About us -------------- We are Mayur, Gayatri and Om residing in sunny Singapore. Amongst us we have an Indian who grew up in India, a Singaporean ceylonese who spent decade of her life in Australia and lastly our son, a true born citizen of the mixes, half Indian, half ceylonese and very Singaporean. Our videos mainly consist of mountain climbing trips, some solo journeys but mostly of our family of 3. We thrive with each others company on our road less travelled in our own unique style. We really love off the beaten kind of adventures, eating local food, meeting ethnic tribes, going back in time with some historical sites and simply getting lost. Being in corporate job for the daily survival, our dream here is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and realise that there is more in life than just 9 to 5.
