I paid $34.98 for this at my local CHKD thrift store. I'm going to assume that they didn't know what they had. That was a total steal for something this nice, this new, and in such good condition. I really want to know the story behind this vacuum. It looks nearly unused. In the head, there wasn't even dirt caked on the sides. Even the fan housing was clean. If that wasn't enough, most of the attachments look unused. The only evidence of use was a bit of hair on the brush roll and a few scratches on the head. It seems that this was bought, used a couple times, and shoved somewhere and left untouched. The previous owner tried to use the belt lifter while the vacuum was running. I would think that somebody who bought such an expensive cleaner would at least take the time to read the instructions, but I suppose not. Perhaps the type of person who would do something like that is also the type of person to donate such a valuable item to a thrift store instead of getting a minimum of $200 by selling it. I'm not complaining, though. I got one of the nicest vacuum cleaners in my collection as a result of whatever happened! This vacuum is a pleasure to use. It's heavy, but the Tech Drive makes it effortless to push. That was the problem with a lot of the older Kirby vacuums. They worked very well, but they were very hard to push of certain carpet types such as my carpet. The Kirby Classic Omega that I have is definitely the hardest to push because of how the head swallows the carpet. This Sentria II feels totally different! On top of that, the cleaning ability is better than the older ones. That's great since the older ones, especially from the 1970s and newer, still outperform a vast majority of other vacuums. This also has to be one of my favorite color schemes that Kirby ever used. It looks nice, it outperforms every Wal-Mart vacuum out there, it has a wide range of possible applications, and it is made with the same level of quality as the vintage ones. For what more can one ask?
