One of the key changes when the government launched its changes to the Apprenticeship Programme, was introducing new Standards. Stewart Segal, our Director of Strategy discusses how 3aaa Apprenticeships currently have a number of frameworks that have been put together by employers and training providers over a number of years, but wanted to refresh those Standards and get employers more involved in developing them. Stewart goes on to explain that we work with several employers on some of those groups. The first groups were called Trailblazer groups and they worked together to develop several standards, including standards for the Digital Sector. Stewart also talks about the main differences between the new Standards and the old Frameworks and what it means for assessment procedures. The change of emphasis from assessing the work on the way through the programme to assessing their work at the end of the programme means more focus can be on mentoring the Apprentices. Part of the new Standards is the new End Point Assessment, which Stewart talks about in detail in this video where he explains there will be a different End Point Assessment for different programmes and can be an exam, project work and also can be an interview where the Apprentice takes a panel of people through the work they have done in their Apprenticeship. Stewart finishes the video by expressing that 3aaa Apprenticeships will be involved in making sure they are ready for that end examination, so we still have a very important part to play but we will work with an independent End Point Assessment company to make sure they get a fair and prepared assessment.
