Practical application of ATLs in the homeroom. Rachel Poulton In this session we will explore how we can address marrying content based learning outcomes with Atl’s/21st century skills. A Unit of Inquiry will lend itself easily to embedding atl’s, the standalone areas are potentially more challenging, particularly for those who transition from a more formal background. What are these skills and why are they so necessary? How do we ensure that we are planning and providing opportunities for the development of skills? How can we continue to be faithful to this provision when faced with external pressures? Are there some ways we can help teachers effectively prepare learning experiences? How do we help learners become aware of the skills and explicitly self reflect? The session will explore some practical approaches to blending 21st century skills into areas that are less commonly viewed as transdisciplinary.
