Various of man digging around tent STORYLINE: Heavy rainfall overnight into Friday drenched tent camps in Central Gaza’s Deir Al-Balah as winter storm Byron continues to devastate the war-battered enclave. Families spent the night trying to save their little possessions that were soaked inside their tents as rainwater pooled on the ground. “The rain has been pouring all night. It has not stopped, and the tent is flooded and all the furniture is now ruined,” said Khalil Ayef, a displaced father from Jabaliya. He told The Associated Press that he has nothing left and no place to go with his family of 12. Water was inches up in the tent encampment, and people scrambled to save their soaked furniture and flooded tents. Lamiaa Abdel Dayem, also in Deir Al-Balah, said that her little boy woke up in the middle of the night soaked from rain leaking inside their tent. “My kid told me that he was soaked in water. My husband was startled, and he found us drenched in water,” she said, adding that her family of six woke to find everything flooded. “There was nothing we could hold, no food and no clothes, nothing. We have no blanket," she added. Palestinian Civil Defense said Thursday that since the storm began, they have received more than 2,500 distress calls from people across Gaza whose tents and shelters were damaged. Aid groups say not enough shelter materials are getting into Gaza. Figures recently released by Israel’s military suggest it hasn’t met the ceasefire stipulation of allowing 600 trucks of aid into Gaza a day, though Israel disputes that finding. =========================================================== Clients are reminded to adhere to all listed restrictions and to check the terms of their licence agreements.
