Playthrough of Penny's Challenge - Beach Blanket Bingo Level starts at 0:05 Note: I avoid using Plant Food and try to use unique strategies. Another level I have history with, this time with my first mandela effect. In December 2025 I was asked by (what I realized later) was Source and my higher self to "let go" while tryharding on these Penny's Challenges, in this case Think Tank. So I used Winter Melon to No PF that one and moved on. The week later, this level came out on a rerun. I played it the first time it came out, and I used Pea Pod/Torchwood/Pea Vine (Gatling Pea wasn't out yet). I had almost made it without even Plant Food until multiple Breakdancers threw multiple Octo Buttholes onto my plants. They almost instantly octified the entire lane and had to spam PF to shoot my way out. Since then I've been wanting to do challenges without using the accursed Plant Food, a terrible game mechanic I could write a mini-dissertation about but that's for another video. Fast forward to December 2025 and this level is back. So I was more than ready to Pea Pod this map and this time get that No PF win. However, metaphyiscal beings, including jerks of a lizard-like persuasion convinced me to not use Pea Pod/Torch as it's the same as Gatling/Torch, just more effort. Instead I should try to No PF this map with plants that were out at the time, other than Pea Pod/Torchwood cheese. Nah, I thought, I'm using Pea Pod, scroo all you metaphysical beings, that No PF win was mine, I want that runback. Why are you all so invested anyway, it's just PvZ. Well I play the level and Pea Pod/Pea Vine/Torchwood is wrecking everything. Every Pea Pod is maxed to 5 and with a Pea Vine, two Torchwood columns with Pea Vines. Zombies frying left and right. This time I'm ready for Low Tides and Breakdancer bullshoes. Nothing's stopping me this time. Around the second-to-last flag, seeing the line falter. Something in me says check out the Pea Pods. Glance at them. Two of the Pea Pods are now missing their Pea Vines. Huh??? There's no way I could forget that. I always slap down Pea Vines in between Pea Pod's recharge. Ok, I forgot I guess? No problem, put Pea Vines on the two that were missing. Continue on and the line is faltering yet again. What now? Glance at the Pea Pods again. Now four of them are missing Pea Vines. Even crazier: the top two Pea Pods went from 5 pods to 4 pods. As anyone who's played PvZ2 knows: *that's not possible*. Pea Pods can't be downgraded in anyway, not without a time machine. You can add pods to a Pea Pod, but you can't take them out. You can shovel them and they can be destroyed, but not downgraded. Just in case I didn't get it, I got informed that, yes, that was an honest-to-goodness mandela effect right before my eyes. Bear in mind, my life at this point was so weird that it was basically a mix of Ghostbusters, X-Files, Star Trek V, They Live, and some goofy weird anime where weird inexplicable stuff happens in the midst of all the romantic stuff. So that having been said, my reaction to the mandela was "Cool!!!" and continued playing. The mandela made me lose though. I lost the No PF run to Beach Blanket Bucking Bingo AGAIN. I decided to retry, but was implored metaphysically again to not use Pea Pod; I'll just get mandela'd again. Fair enough, I thought. I'll just a different strat and still get the No PF win. Except NOTHING was working. Eventually I was implored once again to "let go", and thus stopped playing videogames altogether for the rest of the year. In the new year I picked up RFL again and now got good at PsC's. Discovered how to play them through the level archive. Remembered today this level, so tried it again. Instead of PodTorch, I decided to go with a different strat anyway after all, and stick only with plants that were available when this level came out. The above strat is what I got. I mean, we're at least using a Peashooter of sorts. Primal Pea has that great synergy with Pyre Vine to keep enemies juggled in the no man's land of Pyre's blasts. Laser Bean is there to keep gunning down Turk Skulls, Surfers, and of course Breakdancers. Puffball deletes all Low Tide nonsense. Usually this strat works fine, but this last run everything went nuts. Glitches everywhere, can't count how many gargs went ice skating over the water. Got a combo of bad RNG on enemy placement and Primal Pea shots, causing the zombies to actually get into the perimeter. The gargs start walking in concert on the same tile at certain points, causing me to not notice there was a pair there in that top lane. Thought I was straight up dead near the final wave. Still won no PF, mandela that (wait, I should be quiet lol) Incidentally, this video might have a mandela done on it later. At the end you can see me taunting the dying zombies with Ghost Pepper; if a mandela occurs, it will be with Solar Sage instead. It better not be me using Plant Food!
