In this week’s episode, we tackle a stubborn central door lock issue on our 2015 Land Rover Range Rover, affectionately known as "the Queen." Our Queen—ever the high-maintenance lady—decided to stop locking the front driver door with the remote. We began by disassembling the complex internals of the driver door, cleaning the contacts, and reassembling it. For a brief moment, the door locked as it should, but then the problem resurfaced. Undeterred, we performed a much more detailed second disassembly of the door internals and the door lock actuator. This time, our efforts paid off and the central door lock worked flawlessly—at least for a while. Yet, it wouldn’t be our Queen if things didn’t get even more challenging. The door’s soft-close function, a luxurious feature that allows the door to close the final few millimeters automatically, broke down. After all, you only need to click the door and the Queen does the rest! With no other option, we disassembled the door for a third time. Luckily, we discovered the mistake and corrected it, ensuring both the central lock and the soft-close function worked perfectly. By tackling these issues ourselves, we saved about 1,000 Euros compared to a visit to a Land Rover workshop.
