That's The Fire This Time Festival, named in honor of James Baldwin. This 40-minute compilation features 3 plays from the festival's 2022 iteration, all filmed at the Kraine Theater. Play 1 | "Black Women in Tech " Two Black women struggle to be seen by each other and by the racist smart home they are trapped inside of. How will they escape with their relationship intact? Written by Zachariah Ezer. Play 2 | "For the Dark-Skinned Moving Going People of the World" Jasmine is a young singer who confronts Karl, a filmmaker, to convince him to cast her in his next movie. The two discuss the serious business of creating art for the masses. Written by Steve Harper. Play 3 | Fire This Time Festival: He’s the First Two adolescents from different worlds find themselves in a random encounter at their local library, where they discover similarities and learn not to judge books by their covers.
