But she was also navigating instability including dangerous circles along East Colfax Avenue in Denver, an area long associated with vice activity. When detectives reopened her case, they uncovered a tangled web of rumors including a possible drug deal gone wrong, a mysterious man known only as Pablo. a woman named Jackie”who allegedly claimed Daphne had been taken, and even a serial killer, Richard Paul White, operating in Denver at the same time In 2025, Detective Jason McDonald of the Aurora Police Department reopened Daphne’s case verifying whether she had ever been placed in protective custody, re-submitting DNA to CODIS, and even bringing cadaver dogs to Gary Sterling’s former property after new leads surfaced.
