Felicity Nguyen, a Texas A&M-bound junior forward at Santa Margarita Catholic High in California, scored in the 53rd minute for the top-seeded Eagles following an assist from Utah-bound senior Jastel David in a 1-1 girls soccer tie against No. 4 Oaks Christian School of California in the second leg of the home-and-home semifinal series in the CIF-Southern Section Open Division playoffs. Nguyen also scored Feb. 18 in the 13th minute for Santa Margarita in a 1-0 win at Oaks Christian, helping the Eagles advance to their fourth consecutive section final, including three in a row in the Open Division. Santa Margarita remained unbeaten in six Open showdowns against Oaks Christian during the past three years and will compete against No. 3 Mater Dei in the section final. The Eagles are seeking back-to-back Open crowns and the 10th section championship match in program history.
