I've always been a fan of Konami's Gradius and Life Force / Salamander games, and while this game is definitely rough around the edges, I still find it fun to come back to occasionally. I've revisited this old favorite of mine, as I've decided I'm going to sell the PCB I recorded this run on. The Life Force pcb is very expensive and I feel nervous even having it out to be played! Not quite achieving personal best score for me, I was able to make it to the last stage on the 2nd loop. I was happy to beat the first loop without taking a death, however. My personal best was performed a couple years ago at Galloping Ghost Arcade; I made it to loop 3, stage 1 with a final score of 1,587,300 on that run. Things to look out for if you're going to attempt a 1cc: Shields really don't do much to protect you. I've seen bullets go straight through them on more than one occasion. The stage 4 boss (wall of death) has a couple of safe spots you can use to time him out, which is the safest way to beat him on the first loop. On loop 2 and beyond he is a pacifist, not releasing any of his blue orbs. Also, you can get a bunch of points by milking the center pod in loop 2 onward, as you see me do in this run. The final escape pattern has a few patterns that work, but the one I used I find to be the most reliable. Recorded on a genuine Konami GX587 US Life Force pcb on my supergun, played with default settings: normal difficulty, 3 lives. Thanks for watching!
